Powerless Still? (BLM)

Updated: Jun 10, 2020

Justice that love gives is a surrender, justice that law gives is a punishment. - Mahatma Gandhi

Black man surrender or black man be left dead.

Black man surrender or still be harmed for abiding.

Black man groan, yet no freedom rang.

Black man weep, yet no sorrow shown.

Dear black man your skin guilts you first, your lingo showers your ignorance, and your appearance furthers how far you’ll go. -Society

Welcome All That Are Unwelcome Hatefully.

Let’s travel back to early 1619, the birth of a race, and the beginning of slavery as documented in history books. Early 1619 bound “Black Aboriginal” into such a basic placement. Aboriginals are the first earliest known people to roam a habitat or area. Our history does not began traveling ships drenched in shackles. Our homeland is wealth, “Black Aboriginal” are wealth. Black Aborigines soil and gold is wealth. We were kings and queens, yet did you know? The wealthy sold the poor, and the trade never ended. Exploring a history book as a child, I was eager to learn more of the darkened skin people. I wanted to know my ancestors before the whips and cotton fields. I knew the white man stories, and they all were great and superior. Yet, I only knew the black man was never to disobey his master or else.

The blackness stood out, It was so unique. Though I knew whips, shackles, and cotton fields but the culture, the songs, and the features were my favorite. I wondered why the white woman wanted the negro she hated so deeply, nurturing the child she loved. And I wondered why the white man who hated the negro so deeply, rather touched her at the end of a long day in private. It didn’t make sense.

How broken could you make a race? I knew my people mourned terribly, yet it was as something in their spirits lit effortlessly still. We still overcame.

1863

Perhaps anyone of black descent would label this year their favorite. I was guilty of it once, oh and I honored Abraham Lincoln too. Silly right? Just as his hat was a joke, so was his care for slavery. He didn’t want us free and he never did.

Freedom rang and hate still clenched the eyes of slaveholders and their families. We wanted equality and to finally enjoy the luxuries of life, I mean who wouldn’t?

How can you build laws upon the hatred of a race? As a girl, I asked all my history teachers, yet they simply agreed that you couldn’t. But, our constitution insist you can. Again, how can you create laws upon the hatred of a race? Fun fact: Our constitution hasn’t been changed, only enhanced. For whatever that means.

Our world is still based upon the racial inequality of slavery. Just think about it for a second will you? Drugs are the companions of poor communities. Prisons are overcrowded by the black population, with men and women facing life sentences. Stereotypes are our lives and are apart of our lifestyles. If you kill them, you’re dead, and if they kill you they’re honored or cast with sympathy. Just how backwards is that?

Our history is only as far as a history book begins. And that’s only highlighted roots of slavery. The white man slaughtering the black man, while being praised and fearful amongst peers and others watching. Decades have passed and the same facade lives on proudly.

But now, the white man dresses a badge instead of a whip. And the black guy possesses guilt based on his appearance.

I never seen people as inhumane or evil. Yet, the outside world and social media reminds me everyday. Good and Evil exist.

A mother bearing a baby boy for nine months, only to wait until he’s of age to receive “the talk.”

How hurtful is that? Son if you see or run into a cop ALWAYS:

Be respectful. No, be EXTRA respectful.

Don’t make any sudden movements.

Never disobey him. No matter what.

Tell him exactly what you’re doing, even if your eye burns and you wish to rub them.

Let him do what he wants.

Just so you’re able to make it home to me.

No community needs cops more than poor. Yet the cops prey more upon the poor, and have hopes of destruction each time. The saddest tune repeats over and over again, BLACK LIVES MATTER but only a handful of people see's it this way.

Racism is relevant. Dylann Roof was bought Burger King by police after murdering 9 people, while George Floyd was accused of forgery. The most meaningful difference is, a white man compared to a black man amongst society.

GEORGE FLOYD.

He’d taken his last breathe within the hands of a slaveholder, without the whip. He’d manage to see the world built upon his failure, from way before he even existed. And sadly the failure of this world carried his death. George had life and he mattered. Just as they all do. George won’t be the last victim. George was a son, brother, uncle, and even a father. I read from a longtime friend of George that he was, "A man of peace." His life was just as precious as the officer who’d taken it. But, what if George killed him instead? Wouldn’t the story sound a bit different? You and I both know it would.

Is the new form of segregation life or death? We've eliminated "Black only" and "White only" signs. Though who rest in our ceremonies more? The black man and the black women. We're still separated now, yet only in life and death. Along with stereotypes of failure and hardship.

Ahmaud Arbery

Killed by checking out a house on a morning run. Later taunted and followed by a father and son, shot senseless and recorded.

Breonna Taylor

Fired by 22 bullets, hit with at least 8 bullets while in bed. Her home was bombarded by police, who suspected illegal activities.

George Floyd

Murdered while being restrained. An Officer knee troubled his airway, after multiple pleads of being unable to breathe.

All black.

All killed senseless.

All could of been avoided.

All being seen as predators instead of victims.

All died in shackles, not physically but mentally.

My deepest condolences to you all. This is dedicated to you.
